Programme Aim

The overall aim of the Diploma in Dental Implantology is to provide education and training to enable dental practitioners to practice implant dentistry to a high standard and in the best interests of the patient

Preparing to Manage Implant Patients 


To provide the participants with the necessary knowledge and skills that will enable them to deal with implants patients. 

Developing a Portfolio of Implant Cases


To provide an opportunity for the participants to prepare a portfolio of implant cases that must be successfully treated under the close supervision of expert clinicians. 

GDC Aligned Learning


To develop a Professional Development Plan in line with the GDC guidance for lifelong learning and to update this as the delegate education and competence evolves. 

Learning Outcomes

Evaluate patients who are seeking implants as a treatment modality.
Formulate a treatment plan for patients.
Discuss and communicate to the patients the advantages and limitations of different treatment options.
Select the appropriate implant size based on an accurate interpretation of CBCT radiograph.
Place and restore implants.
Perform simple bone grafting procedures.
Apply the GDC standards to maintain safe practice.

Alfonso Rao

Alfonso Rao

Born in Italy, Dr Alfonso Rao graduated from the University of Chieti with distinction.

He has spent three years at the Eastman Dental Institute of London, where he completed a course in Implant Dentistry. He also has completed training from the Global Institute for Dental Education in Los Angeles, in 2014.

Over the last few years Alfonso has dedicated a lot of personal time in teaching and mentoring dentists in implantology and as an opinion leader and speaker for Straumann and Dentsply. He’s has been a lead instructor for other implant course providers but decided to launch DELTA to provide a different approach to learning implant dentistry.

He is involved with the local community (Bristol) of dental professionals holding regular CPD events in the practice to promote education especially of other young dentists.

Imar Nasser

Imran Nasser

BDS MFDS RCS Ed MSc ImplantologyC

Imran qualified from Bristol University in 2006 and following subsequent hospital posts in the South West between 2007-2009, he completed his Masters in Implantology between 2010-2014 with distinction.

Imran became Practice Principal at Cheltenham & Cotswold Dental in 2020 and his main referral work remains implant and restorative aesthetic cases. He has a huge passion for mentoring & teaching; and in particular dental photography to document his surgery and outcomes.

Kit Spears

Kit Spears

Kit is a multi award-winning implant dentist, practicing in Surrey and Hampshire. He graduated from the University of Bristol in 2011 and has been carrying out implant dentistry since 2014. He completed his Master’s degree in Dental Implantology with merit in 2017, and was invited back to be an academic supervisor on the Master’s programme, becoming a University of Bristol honorary staff member.

Kit has attended numerous advanced implant courses across the UK and Europe to hone his techniques and skills, including an Advanced Surgical Fellowship with Professor Urban.

Kit’s accolades include Best Multiple Implant Treatment in the UK, in the 2023 Dentistry Clinical Case Awards, and Best Young Implant Dentist in the UK, in the 2023 Clinical Dentistry Awards, and he has been shortlisted for many other awards. In addition, Kit is an ADI-registered implant mentor.

Kit is a member of the International Team for Implantology, the Association of Dental Implantology and a Full Member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Thomas Gill

Thomas Gill

BDS(Hons) BSc(Hons) PgCert(Medical Education), PgDip(Epidemiology), MRes(Clinical Research) MSc(Clinical Implantology) MJDF(RCS Eng) FHEA Tom graduated with honours from his BDS qualification from King’s College London in 2017; since completing his training, he has completed a number of postgraduate courses to further his skills, exploring many disciplines across dentistry. He has completed master’s in Implantology, as well as a master’s in Clinical Research. Tom treats patients requiring complex and advanced restorative treatment including dental implants. His areas of particular interest include aesthetic implant dentistry and management of complex restorative cases including functional and aesthetic rehabilitation of patients.
